Fall Colors 2009 - Grand Teton National Park
September 26-27, 2009
This year for the fall colors gold rush I had to take a quick trip because of the several longer trips I've done this year. So, instead of staying local in Colorado, my housemate and I spent the weekend at a place that's quickly becoming one of my favorites - Grand Teton National Park.
We drove all night Friday to arrive at the park about an hour and a half before dawn. After a quick nap, we headed out for sunrise. A few hours later we spent some time scouting out locations for sunset and then Sunday's sunrise. Once we found our spots, we headed to Yellowstone as my parents were there for the weekend. What should have been a five hour trip to see them turned into missing sunset because of an eleven hour trip due to the fire causing roads to be closed. Because of the fire in Yellowstone, the smoke drifted south to the Tetons and made it quite hazy - not the clearest conditions, but nice nonetheless. It was a fun trip, but definitely too short and I plan to go back for next autumn.
